Daft Punk are soon to land and their meteoric and enigmatic nature makes this akin to the passing of Haley’s Comet. However, in the lead up, rather than looking up at the sky we recommend that you look up at the screen
Presented by Modular and Beck’s, Daft Punk is Screening at our House is a two-night film festival that will showcase cult features INTERSTELLA 5555 and ELECTROMA as well as the film-clips from 'Homework' and 'Human After All'.
For all the commercial success Mr Williams has had producing hits for other artists, his solo work and N*E*R*D project have barely touched the top 10. There is Pharrell, the singer, songwriter, MC and then The Neptunes - Hollaback Girl, Hott In Here and J.T - don't confuse them.

All the short-run CDRs, improv jams and general hippy mystique provided by the current wave of the "new, weird, America" certainly rock the mind, but rarely move the body. Avatar is head music that rocks both. Previous Comet's discs suggested a great live band but remained a tad arcane for your average squares (like ourselves) who require a little groove in between all the psychedelia.
When it comes to forming an indie sensibility many bands attempt to channel the talents of their idols, deconstructing popular sounds and influences and reconstructing them in ways that are all too often thin or predictable. Midlake create songs that are so beautiful and natural you will know what the sound of one hand clapping really is. With lyrics as simple and evocative as a well-crafted haiku, the band from Denton, Texas has crafted their album based upon older influences such as Fleetwood Mac and Neil Young. With a cultivated contemporary sound that might appeal to fans of the Flaming Lips, Grandaddy and, before they got too big of course, The Shins, Midlake may be melancholy at times but they are never morose.
Does THIS fill you with awe? Does THIS make you laugh? And do you not want to end up doing THIS this winter?
Well if you answered YES to all three questions then we suggest you go to Warren Miller’s ‘Off The Grid’. ‘The Grid’ is a metaphor for the boundaries and routines of everyday life and being off it means that you are either an extreme skier, clinically insane, or quite possibly, both.
The most exceptional thing about DOT DOT DOT magazine is the fact that it doesn’t make you want to buy anything. That is, except for the issues you don’t already have. Although it is a combination of romantic and logical explorations of ideas relating to design, it isn’t only for designers.
