That little magazine dressed as a Penguin Classic is being catapulted into the publishing world and having a little party to wave it off. The 137-page magazine that was born out of one woman's need for new ideas has hit the shelves of good book stores around about town. But if you only ever get out of bed for parties, you can pick up a copy at Pidgeon Ground Public where there will be booze and entertainment for your convenience.

Editor Alice Gage once wanted to rock some serious boats. She was filled with rage at the numbness around her and thought that a cutting political publication would liven things up a little. After a good, hard think she realised the planet doesn't need more political verbiage - but it does need some interesting shit.

TIM SWEENEY SET FROM NOISE IN MY HEAD, COURTESY OF NOWNOW
Tim Sweeney is one floppy-fringed brainiac from New York City that brings joy to people worldwide. He's been trawling record collections and spinning up mixes that have been erupting dance floors for years - and for most of those years he's been underage, armed with nothing but a fake ID, a whole lot of knowledge in Ninja Tune and a little teen-beard sprout.

The latest collection of menswear by Rittenhouse is simple, neatly cut and comfortable enough for any dude who just wants to sit on a couch and eat chips. But when it came to dreaming up shapes and colours, designers Sally and Micah breathed a certain Rittenhouse idiosyncrasy into their creations.

Everything about Devo is one, fat joke. Even their name was born out of a nerdy in-joke - arts kids at Kent State University decided mankind were regressing, or devolving (zing!) The fact we've been dancefloor-pining for the old men in hats to dance for us for so long is kinda funny, too. All jokes aside, Devo are actually performing and with the band whose front man throws musically epic tantrums about ice-cream, Eddy Current Suppression Ring.

Je Suis Animal took all the interesting subjects of their arts degree and spun them into an album. It's the cinema geek in-jokes told through the strings, wind and melodica-esque cameos that turn this happily Norwegian pop into something suited to a silent film score.
SELF-TAUGHT MAGIC FROM A BOOK is Lost and Lonesome's fiftieth release and has the right balance of lyrical storytelling and dance-around-your-room juice.
The craftsman behind Note to Self was not your average kid. While most juveniles were trading fags for swigs of Spumanti behind the shelter sheds, Max Olijnyk was following the skater-trails of Matt Hensley and Guy Mariano. He spent just as much time recreating their (retrospectively perhaps too large) pants on his Mum's sewing machine as he did ollying off three-inch gutters.
