Over achievers fall into two categories, some are annoying and won't shut up about their brilliant selves, others are so humble you can't help but fawn all over them. Miranda July is the later, and Even Books have scooped her up for their seventh celebration. Just a few things this lady has achieved include showing her projects at the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum and winning the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award.

With a new crop of musos dusting off their guitars, and jamming away in the backyard it can be hard to keep track of the next big thing. But here's a hint - Peregrine, The Dawn Collective, Jack Carty and The Party, and The Shipwrecked all in one line-up - you can't go wrong. This bill looks so fresh Woollies could use it in a weekly specials brochure.

We love a young gallery that takes initiative with interactive competitions. You also get that bonus heart-warming glow when the proceeds are fundraising further goodness within the gallery, instead of the sweaty back pocket of some deal-driving art buyer. So, what's in it for you? Well, you can share that piece of genius you created with a sharpie and an A3 piece of parchment one rainy Sunday afternoon, and if you're good enough, you can land yourself a free show in the gallery come 2009.

Do you like a meal paid for with coupons, with a side of drag? Do you like eating in an inner city park, sharing with 30,000 of your closest friends? Ok yes, this is a test. We're ranting about the Sydney Food and Wine Fair of course, and we pity the fool that doesn't take advantage! As with previous years, 10 of Sydney's finest restaurants sell their food for as little as $3 a dish, while singers, dancers and a drag show try to pull your attention away from the front of the line.

What's more fun than a street festival? Definitely not a street cleaner. Street festivals invented the lemonade stand, the stroll, and the afternoon well spent. Combine with its distant cousin, the market, and you have this Sunday's Danks Street Festival. The Hawkesbury Harvest takes over nearby Young Street with jams, olives and other gourmet markety things, while Danks goes arty with stalls by local artists and galleries.

Climb into the Heights this Friday and you'll stumble across CORNUCOPIA. It's the work of local artist Trent Whitehead, who has previously exhibited at Monster Children and MTV gallery. Made with ink and acrylic on custom pieces of wood, masks and an installation, his fantastical personas peer out at you with a certain defiance and ‘tude.
