Nurses will tell you that there are certain creepy rooms in every hospital where you can sense a disquieting presence. It's not a ghost as such... more like a metaphysical memory of the pain that has occurred in the space.
The latest reincarnation of The Bentley Bar exhibits a similar phenomenon but in a very different way. It might have morphed from its original form as the only place you could always get drugs into a fairly flashy new restaurant, but the spirit lingers on. The sweet sweaty memory of a thousand men on amyl, marching in a conga line.
But what of the present and not the past? We can tell you that the staff are fantastic. We can tell you that the wine list is sharp. We can tell you that the food looks better than it tastes and also that someone with a power-tool once made a very ugly interpretation of a tree which is now stuck on the wall. But above all, we can tell you that you can't polish a turd.
