"Yawn," I hear you say. "Another coffee spot in Glebe. Great." But hang on - not all shoes in the shoestore are the same, right? Right!? We all feel the fatigue of cafes with thrift-store decor and distracting music, which is why when one comes along that establishes a genuinely likable identity, it's a breath of fresh air.
Clipper manages a sort of warm, rustic-boathouse grace, marrying rough whitened walls with plenty of sun through the big front windows. Its wooden benches are scattered with recent issues of Monocle and other quality mags. It completely avoids pretension, however, in favour of good coffee, an honest menu and sensible prices. All this and the affable service ranks Clipper as one of the nicer spots for your daily hit.
