According to Wikipedia, Doughboy is an archaic term for United States Army infantrymen, originally coined during the push west that was the Mexican-American War.

Locally, boutique pizza outfit Doughboy has undertaken its own western expansion by opening in Newtown, although obviously in a far less violent manner.

Offering the same menu as its older siblings in Potts Point and Bondi, the new addition is in fact the largest shop, and provides a sleek but warm ambience in which to hook into the baked-on-the-spot olive and garlic breads, and thin-crust pizzas. The bare-brick interior is complemented by a fit out that utilises old pizza trays as lightshades and leans on empty tomato cans as wall coverings: a sort of gastro-industrial chic.

With the food matching the standard of its established stores and a friendly BYO policy, this is the kind of cultural imperialism we encourage.
