The ancient Chinese didn't just spend their time building great walls and playing with fireworks. Truth be told, they spent most of their time sipping green tea and savouring delectable Chinese cuisine. Because of this the average Chinese palate became so sophisticated that people soon refused to settle for one-wok-slop, and began demanding elaborate banquets containing myriad of dishes in perfect bite-sized morsels.

Today those with short attention spans, fickle Gen X tastebuds and stoners, still marvel at the innovation of Yum Cha. However most of us will only get to experience its assorted wonders on the rarest of occasions. Traditional serving times present a small window of opportunity and getting to Chinatown before 3pm cut-off is a bitch.

Thankfully, the good folk at East Ocean have heard our anguished cries of starvation and enacted a plan to deliver Yum Cha to the people. From 10pm until 1am every night Yum Cha is back on the menu. You heard us right - dumplings after dark. Can I get a hell yeah?

There isn't the usual cart system at this hour, but we guarantee a keno pencil and a mini-putt scorecard is all you need to order all the dim sums, rice paper rolls and chicken feet your midnight-snacking mouth can handle.

Farewell kebab. Hello char sui bao.
