WHAT
HAYDEN TEE - DINNER AND CABARET
WHERE
SLIDE
41 OXFORD ST, DARLINGHURST
WHEN
WED, 26 JULY THEN 19 AND 26 AUGUST
Relatively new to the Sydney bar/restaurant/club scene, Slide recently launched weekly dinner and cabaret nights. The menu is succinct, the food hearty and a double baked three-cheese soufflé, salmon fillet with miso crust would be a most fulfilling way to spend an evening.
That is, if it wasn't for the gay tributes atmosphere. There was the Kylie Minogue 'Impossible Princess Tour' inspired decor, the Madonna 'Drowned World' uniforms and Cher on a backing track somewhere. If that isn't showy enough, for anyone even vaguely interested in musical theatre, this week's treat is Hayden Tee. Following an exhausting run on Broadway (shopping centre?) and before he sets sail for the stage musical version of 'Titanic'. His show is full of songs about Doris Day emotions that he's clearly wanted to shout from the highest hill in New Zealand for some time.
So, a toast to Slide: where the atmosphere is as cold as the champagne and the sincerity as deep as Tee's falsetto.
