How awesome did it feel to get that insane obscure T-shirt by a drugged-out Brooklyn design duo of gay twins that no one had ever heard of? And how much does it suck now that every head at the Surry Hills Market is rocking the same thing? What about that fly overall print hoodie you special-ordered from Japan... that they sell on every corner in Paddo now?
It's not so much that we all wanna be "in-the-know", but we get bummed if we like "everyone else". Nestled amongst the brothels and kebab shops on a fairly ugly block on Elizabeth Street is DISRUPT, stocking cool gear you won't find on everyone's noggin come spring. Why, you ask? Well Meg and
Stu order small numbers of select stock for their concept store/local artist's canvas. And heaps of these pieces are one-offs. Rows of T-shirts from brands you've never heard of with funny, fucked-up, surreal and psychedelic designs, one-off hoodies with reverse lining made from vintage fabric, fun and colourful women's wear, accessories, and more, all from local up-and-comers and obscure overseas brands. DISRUPT also run their own in-house label; their designs offer a smart, twisted take on pop culture, branding iconography, and political propaganda. They carry collectible toy, original art, and assorted knick-knacks. Swing in to stock up on goods -summer's just around the corner.
