The irrepressible convention stranglers Damn Arms have long been rubbing shoulders with the highest echelon of post-punk-new-wave glitterati like Test Icicles (RIP), Klaxons and Forward Russia. And so they should. Ever since the Melbourne foursome rose from the ashes of the defunct act Snap! Crakk! their dedication to an upwards slanting musical trajectory has been relentless.
Taking up where the slingshotted Homewrecker EP left off (the title track reprises on the LP - thankfully, too, it's totally killer), THE LIVE ARTEX's feverish drumming; cutting, scattershot guitars; Korg keys and primal basslines certainly aim between the eyes, not to mention your ‘Brain Center for Recreational Dance Move Making' - (BCRDMM for short-ish). Recorded in a live setting with Mr Littlemore of PNAU and Teenager fame, the album bristles and stomps with energy, capturing the maddening power of their show on a tiny little spinning disc. Cool huh? It's a wise move tracking it this way, for it's in the live arena that Damn Arms flex their largest muscles.
