It's Never Been Like That, Phoenix
Listening to Phoenix is like listening to good advice. Their songs are ingrained with experience and a certain perspective that comes from never taking yourself too seriously. Or maybe, it’s just the simplicity that comes from singing in a second language.
IT'S NEVER BEEN LIKE THAT is the band’s follow up to the cult-status United and cool and consistent Alphabetical.
It is a starry-eyed jangle that was made with live performance in mind, more straight-up indie than electro-pop, and with the exception of ‘Consolation Prizes’, it is definitely more head nodding than fist pumping.
They say that everything happens in threes but let’s hope that Phoenix continue for a little while longer.
