It's not surprising indie rock auteur Jeremy Jay is a film fan.

He divides his time between Los Angeles and Paris, and his songs have the swagger and romance of a French new wave criminal, and the mystique of a film noir detective.

SLOW DANCE oozes style. Deadpan attitude, a post-punk sparseness, a 50s doomed love song and filmic storytelling. Mix up The Vaselines, The Modern Lovers, and Young Marble Giants in a bowl, add a dash of eerie, and you're close.

It's interesting to hear how a generation of young bands is influenced by indie rock classics. While many successfully ape the sound and attitude, for some it's just superficial sheen. But Jeremy's got something more. He's got mystique and class - and he's got it in spades.
