I remember going to my very first sit-in during my younger teen years. The drillio? A new McDonald's had opened up on oh-so subversive King Street and we weren't going to take it, dagnabbit! Today, as I take a decidedly less idealistic stumble down Newtown's main drag looking for some burgerific post-beer goodness and pass what is now an Irish pub, I realise I have nobody but myself to blame.
You have probably heard of Aesop. They concoct wonderfully fragranced, no fuss beauty products that make us smell like we've just rolled in Provence.
Their Australian stores are something special too, designed to integrate brand with city under the impeccable direction of March Studio's Rodney Eggleston.
The great thing about going to an Aesop store is that even if you don't buy a product, you feel more beautiful anyway. Regardless of which store you visit it's tastefully designed and has a satisfying rather than overwhelming number of products.
The latest addition to the range is a series of four opera gift kits: two uni-sex, one for women and one for men.

TwoThousand is a subcultural guide to Sydney, published daily and fired by email weekly. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of Sydney writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity. Without editorial independence TwoThousand has nothing. All editorial you read is featured because it's worth it - not because it's paid for.
