When you hear the words ‘Annandale Hotel', does your mind cough up a blurry montage of beer-fuelled, adrenalin-charged nights and someone losing a shoe? We'd sort of hope it does because then you're geared to handle this one. Sydney's Under Lights thrash out solid alternative rock power chords buoyed by Jack Friel's gravelly vocals; the sort that's bound to get people on their feet and then stumbling over them again.

Shelved by the studio in 1972 and scarcely released (seriously, it never hit theatres, video or DVD) due to un-commerciality, Terrence Malick's DEADHEAD MILES freewheels down American highways with its tale of one mumbling manic and his 18 wheel on-road-beast (truck). You're in for a sublime film feast filled with illogic and neurosis.

When you watch My Disco it is an intense experience, taut and crackling with the tension of heavy thud-thud of bass, drums and occasional shard of guitar. So minimal and relentless it is, that you may find yourself to and fro'ing a fraction and disappearing into your own head - into an expanse of thick nothing.

So what we've got here are two of the best rockumetaries ever made. The screening starts off with EAT THE DOCUMENT, a flick from ‘72 which is directed and edited by Bob Dylan. It follows Dylan and the band around Europe and Britain during their tour in '66. Next up is CRACKED ACTOR, a chaotic film about David Bowie.

This is like a fire-sale of talent. Deep Sea Arcade's throwback psych-pop is worth more than the $10 entry alone, but they've gone and wrangled the perennially enjoyable Cuthbert & The Nightwalkers and up-comers Songs for Surgery into the mix, meaning it's just over three bucks per band. Three bucks a band for music of this quality is such a bargain I'm almost upset.

Trains, Planes And Automobiles
It might seem a little arrogant for a store to proclaim itself as "probably the world's best antique toy shop" but in this case we can let them off. First of all they said "probably", which suggests more than a little humility. Secondly, they're probably right. Their range of beautiful vintage trains is a sight to behold and the pre-loved accessories are so meticulously detailed that they could serve as decorative pieces in their own right.
