860 million people live in poverty in India. A number like that is enough to warrant forgetting soy lattes and skinny jeans for an evening and checking out photographer Rick Carter's new exhibition, running to coincide with the UN's International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17.

AC/DC. The Legends of Hard Rock, as most would agree. Most would also agree that a picture is worth a thousand words, and in this case, they're right. Philip Morris is, arguably, Australia's most esteemed music photographer. His exhibition will feature never-before-seen photos of AC/DC, from HIGH VOLTAGE through HIGHWAY TO HELL, and all the way up to Bon Scott's last live performance in 1979.

I could go on about Toby Burrows' numerous photographic awards, his edgy style or his international fame, but then I'd need about an hour of your time. So if you have the time, I suggest you get yourself down to the Blender Gallery and check out his photographic Footprint.

Remember the good old days when you'd finish a roll of film, then wait with baited breath for it to be developed at the local Kodak shop so you could check out the fruits of your labour? Memories to have and to hold on matte or gloss. The digital revolution has all but killed this wonderous part of the photographic process by providing instant gratification on a 2.

RABARI - THE LAST OF THE WANDERING SHEPHERDS documents Mitchell Kanashkevich's encounters with a tribe of Nomadic cattle herders in his travels throughout western India. Product: Gadgets
Theft: Theft is likely

There's something to be said for the dreamy imperfection of an old-school analogue photo. It's something a wardrobe of vintage tees, retro sunnies and Photoshop simply can't replicate.

That's because there's so much more to photography than taking a tiny 10 megapixel camera out on a Saturday night, posting the shots on Facebook, then burying the end product in the depths of your hard-drive.

Broken Beauty

25th Jul 07

Ugly is beautiful. You know it. I know it. Betty knows it. And, as it turns out, a local photographer called Ben Ong knows it too.

Something of a gloom-whore, Ben spent a large part of 2006 loitering amongst a bunch of dilapidated buildings through the city where he set about kicking stuff, photographing his mates and generally soaking up the atmosphere of spectacular waste.
