Sharing the 60x300cm space behind a counter full of beans, mince, salsa and corn chips are two dark-haired, Mexican goddesses. These are the ladies who will save you from the Great Depression - the sadness experienced every time you hand over 20 bucks for a mystery sandwich and a bottle of water...and only get coins for change.
One can only assume that the name ‘Satellite' in this case refers to the retro furniture, which in its 'hey day', would have been cutting-edge and futuristic. Think THE JETSONS and what modern day meant to man 30 years back.
To the local alternate set who prefer hunger holes that remain hidden from King Steet's view, Satellite definitely caters.
TwoThousand often wishes that the Harbour Bridge could be torn down. Imagine how fast coffees would be served if we didn't have to wait in line behind scrawny North Shore 'Soccer Mums' on inner city reconnaissance ordering their decaf-soy waters.
But every time we've made it past the tollbooth, strapped with explosives, we've been unable to detonate because of the one thing we'd miss: The Fat Sandwich Shop in Neutral Bay.
Unlike Melbourne, we in Sydney are not yet accustomed to gallivanting around filthy back alleys to access bars and restaurants. So as you lead your date down a dodgy little unnamed alley off Pitt Street, have some fun and casually describe IRREVERSIBLE as the sexiest movie you've ever seen and just as they're about to leg it - hit them with the choice of not one but two Korean BBQ restaurants.
I remember going to the butcher as a child. A burly man would always give me a frankfurter to eat. It made food shopping bearable.
So, as things go in and out of fashion, (rocket over alfalfa - that kind of thing) kids today are munching chunks of chorizo rather than a flimsy little frankfurter.
If however, you feel like whetting your pre-teen Polish palette I strongly recommend an excursion to the Betta Butcher.

When a band changes its name to avoid any confusion overseas, you know they're going somewhere, fast. And when a band is going somewhere fast, they're usually worth seeing. Especially when entry is cheap as... chups. The NZ band will be supported by Flying Foxes, Blue Carousel, The Small Hours and Tennis.

Around Bondi, unless you’re eating a fuzzy salad or soft serve cone, it’s hard to find a feed for a flat tenner. So you can imagine (and possibly feel) our joy at the emergence of a no frills restaurant in what was one a semi-posh eatery.
Apart from paper tablecloths (which you can now draw on with rainbow crayons) the décor from the space's exy days is largely unchanged.
