There's nothing sexy about Golden Century. It's got kitsch ‘80s-era Chinese cultural décor, (gold-leaf dragons and red furnishings), a mess-hall atmosphere and the manger wears a double-breasted suit (have a look here).
But the FOOD! Oh sweet baby Joysus! It's the BEST place in Sydney for Chinese food.
Close your eyes and imagine you're in a calm, empty room. A softly lit, minimalist Oxford Street boutique, with white walls, experimental chill out music, and just a few carefully selected willowy items hanging on a deliberately bare rack. Now multiply that by ADHD and the colour red and give it an unstable childhood and you're beginning to see what its like shopping at Mao and More.
