Where else but the Sydney Underground Film Festival (SUFF) can you see a man obsess over a half-woman-half-eel; get close to Bin Laden's Mountain caves, or experience 1980s smell-o-vision while cradling a warm bucket of popcorn? The SUFF opening night kicks off with George Gittoes' THE MISCREANTS, which takes us deep into the heart of a 'forbidden zone' (aka The Middle East).

The brother sister duo have just released their debut album 'A Book Like This' and are about to do a bunch of shows in Australia to celebrate. They've just returned from the UK where they recruited a whole new set of fans. Even the overly cynical UK press loved them. If you've seen them live before, you know exactly how hard it is to describe how beautiful their shows are.

Stray cats are an odd breed. They're either all nice and purring and winding around your leg looking for some attention, or they snarl and hiss and stare at you suspiciously from under a car. You never know what to expect, so inevitably you end up making that ‘sswwsh sswwsh' sound on the off-chance you'll get some reciprocated affection.
I initially went here on a recommendation from my BFF. She had a crush on the waiter and wanted to share her good fortune, having found herself a new coffee sweetener.
Seeing as though I like my coffee sugarless, all eyes were on the eggs - free range of course. Huge portions, good service, cool crowd and outdoor seating spilling onto the street.

Seminal noise-pop outfit Jesus and Mary Chain only reformed last year after a bout of unhappy families. Having already played at Coachella and after securing a spot on the V Festival line up, work has started on what will be the band's first album in nine years. Their live shows involve an edgy collision of bubblegum pop and heavy distortion with a cocky punk swagger.

For those who remember underage gigs and all that they entailed - blue lights, RSLs and bad music - there is a twinge of jealousy at what's lined up these days for those not wielding an ID. This weekend fifteen bucks will get you Bridezilla, British India, The Holidays, Cassette Kids and more.
