The mid 90's saw many great couplings - Brenda and Dylan, the midriff top with high waisted jeans and, outshining all of these... Blackalicious. Meeting in high school the duo later teamed up in LA and started making the sweet beats and informed lyrics we know them for today. On the bill you'll also find local hip hop oufits Spit Syndicate, Horrorshow and Peace Out.

Sure,there are percussive leanings towards the genre on WOLVES AND WISHES (evident through air-tight breaks) but beyond thisthere's instrumental mastery and a nerd-like splicing together of encyclopaedicmusic knowledge and composition.

What we're trying to say is that there's a hip-hop night on. Play list includes names like Public Enemy, Wu Tang, Cypress Hill, Dre, NWA, Biggie, Pac and Snoop D.

Friday nights are rarely a free affair, but that's not the only reason you should go to Proper 10. Now in its 10th month (oh really?) the regular hip hop Wednesday has moved to Friday. One of the best showcases of freestyle rap and hip hop around, this week is a national affair. D'Opus & Ro Sham Bo (ACT), A-Love (VIC) plus locals Mas-siva and Mailer Peach.
