Take a look at the weather forecast - 27. 28. 29. 26. Sunny. Sunny. Sunny. The spring's finally settling into a balmy summer, so you can run around and do things like ride your bike aimlessly, suck on ice blocks, lie on the grass, and run through sprinklers. The Lucksmiths write songs as if they're living a perpetual suburban summer.

Beach House was formed in 2006 by Baltimore-based Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally. They are the musical equivalent of a punch-fuelled prom... with a slice of CARRIE. Theirs is a melody of sequins, cake and a sheen of taffeta - underpinned by something more sinister. If you like what Air did for THE VIRGIN SUICIDES, then you'll understand Beach House.

The Popfrenzy artist nights provide an overview of the label's latest talent. Over two evenings and two locations you get Songs (who are finishing off a 7" with Love of Diagrams), Adelaidians Clue to Kato and Leader Cheetah.

The first time I saw The Snowdroppers was at 34b when two of the band members got on stage with a couple of guitars and provided the music to inspire the performance of scantily clad burlesque dancers. Given the fact that they stood their own in the attention stakes amongst sequins, feathers and practically naked women, these larrikins are sure to provide some thigh slappin' entertainment all of their own on Sunday night.

The first time I saw SPOD play he came out on stage and kicked a bottle of beer into my bag. He then lay on the floor and screamed a song about Cats before bashing out tracks on a Gameboy. Being a fan of both cats and Gameboys, our friendship was saved. SPOD is a force to be reckoned with. He's backed by the Trucker B's.

You've probably heard The Maple Trail's 'New York' on the radio, and melted. If not, you'll hear it tonight, along with the first live performances of songs from their forth-coming debut LP, 'Dirty Echo Spark'.
