Why do we all love MUSCLES?
Is it the 22-year-old Melburnian's ridiculously macho name? His irrepressible exuberance? The rave "woo!"s in every song? His sense of humor? His love of sweets? His Mark-E.-Smith-meets-John-Lydon croon? His New Romantic melodrama? His young, dumb lyrics like "my hand slipped into your hand / and it was awesome"?
There's something about GUNS BABES LEMONADE that's refreshingly fun.
Contrary to popular belief, it's a bad idea to give acid to pre-schoolers. They already can't tell fantasy from reality, so when their shoes start singing it kinda bums 'em out.
However, it's a great idea to drop acid and produce a kid's dance show for your local public access TV station in Braidwood NSW.
Softlightes are one of those bands that can both ease your pain and fuel your imagination. Perhaps that is why the film clip by Kris Moyes seems so perfectly suited to the band’s sound. Their music, all at once colourful and textured, verges on the point of too cute but pulls back at the right time to give you something that is carefully constructed rather than contrived.
Australian based music taste-makers, Modular, don’t seem to be content with just spotting and nurturing talent anymore. Over the past few months they’ve added a number of new strings to their bow, including monster Christmas parties in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as monthly nights, which kicked off in fine style with Annie.
A decade ago, Sweden's Robyn was considered by TwoThousand to be one of the most frighteningly M.O.R. artists to spook the charts. Her Max Martin penned ballads featured cheesy E.S.O.L. lyrics that would make a Danish backpacker cringe (for example, take the line “you’re the one that I ever needed” from the nails on a chalkboard smash hit 'Show Me Love').
