Sitting somewhere between Middle-Eastern psych and space-gospel, multi-instumentalists Yeasayer are sending the blogosphere pretty mental. Having toured with the likes of Beck and MGMT, they're making quite a name for themselves. They're in Sydney on October 6 to take us on some kind of futuristic, cosmic voyage with their famously 'trippy' live performance.

Online mail order service Cloth Ear Music is a boon for fans of lo-fi psychedelia, drone experimentation and handmade recordings. Operated anonymously from Sydney with orders taken via email only, the site is a mainline for local and overseas releases of the most ethereal, under-the-radar kind; limited edition LPs, 7s, CDRs and tapes of Noise-fallout otherwise unavailable in Australia.
WHAT
PAISLEY PALACE
WHERE
LOUIE'S, 34 MURRAY ST, MARRICKVILLE
WHEN
SAT AUG 16, 7PM
HOW MUCH
$8 PRESALE FROM CREAM ON CROWN OR CREAM ON KING
$10 ON THE DOOR
We've made it. All the way back to '60s. The Paisley Palace promises a mind-bending excursion through the most obscure psychedelic obscurities Sydney has to offer (we're assuming these aren't chemically based). They are however, vintage psych from The Dolly Rocker Movement, something laid back from The Laurels and an intoxicatingly obnoxious blend of punk psych from the Straight Arrows.

Jamming good - San Francisco's Wooden Shjips have all the sea rhythm and outsized heaviness their name suggests. Loving on the strung-out sounds of ‘60s dead flower psychedelic rock, these guys make no beef with dropping out completely - ploughing a riff into the red ad nauseam and deep into the earth.
Hot little people making hot little songs in a hot little studio, all crafted with their hot little hands - it only makes sense that this record is hot, right? Not Paris Hilton hot (because that's obviously spelt "hott"), but blisteringly cool, as in the "hip" style of cool, not the "opposite of hot".
WHAT
THE SPACE BANDITOS
WHERE
HERMANN'S BAR. CNR CITY RD AND BUTLIN RD, SYDNEY UNIVERSITY
WHEN
FRI JUNE 6, 8PM
HOW MUCH
$10
If psychedelic is the new black then The Space Banditos are the dark princes in waiting. Their epic instrumentals are reminiscent of the Mars Volta, if they had a sax player, the occasional violin and a less enigmatic bass player. A promise of no time signatures being repeated and support from Super Florence Jam shouldn't leave you wondering.
