We're all back in Sydney and thank God all that holiday crap is over with. You know how you can celebrate? Danimals!
One of the most exciting Aussie acts around, Danimals make music that twists, turns and sputters with life. They kinda sound like Flying Lotus making beats for Animal Collective (and their antecedent Beach Boys), with playful melodies, lo-fi, shambling production and a sunny disposition.

Y'know, sometimes, you just wanna rock.
KICKING INDIFFERENCE - the second album from The Pictures - is a platter's worth of pure pub rock power pop. It ain't intellectual and it ain't aesthetically abstract. But sometimes that's just what the doctor ordered...
Featuring members of You Am I (Davey Lane) and The Deserters (Luke Thomas), it's not surprising The Pictures love a pop tune.

THE DEATH SET

SPECTRUM, LEVEL 2, 34 OXFORD ST, DARLINGHURST
WHEN
FRI JAN 9, 8PM
HOW MUCH

The Death Set's (aka "The Motherf*#%in' Death Set") live shows are a shitstorm of sweaty scrambling dudes screaming lyrics over screeching guitars. As Johnny Siera puts it, his band does "a lot of high-energy spazzing out for a really short time". We doubt our mothers would approve, but this looks kinda fun.
