Of all the furtive acts I regularly indulge in, scanning bookshelves in people's homes when they're out of the room has got to be one of the most rewarding. Even a cursory glance over the spines of someone's literature collection can give us very important details about what sort of company we're amongst and how long we should stay amongst it.

Certain to be a collection that will make you feel like sticking around, 10X10 is a curated bookshelf that will be on show twice during the upcoming Anode arts festival.

Ten trustworthy individuals - selected by academic and composer Kate Crawford and Marcus Westbury, presenter of ABC TV's NOT QUITE ART - each chose 10 films and books for the collection, and tonight you can sip on a vino and watch the 200 fascinating recommendations unfold at the cosy Sticky in Surry Hills (guest list only, email heythere@decodemedia.com.au).

Presenting a snapshot of the times, 10X10 will also be shown at the festival's Field Trip on Saturday - a series of exhibitions and performances in the Domain Carpark.
