The Game of Places, Hosang Park

Hosang Park's strange aerial images (like this one) depict fabricated city spaces that are utterly lifeless. His use of a bird's-eye view distorts things by taking away perspective and depth; making the controlled spaces even more impersonal.

Park is one of five young Korean photographers whose work is included in THE GAME OF PLACES, currently on at UTS Gallery.

A Forest of Lines, Pierre Huyghe

Hidden amidst the first floor at the MCA, on a small patch of wall towards the back, there is a poster. Compared to the cobra-filled cotton fields and hammocked rooms of the Biennale showcase, it's a small player. Yet this petit paper alludes to something much greater.

Pierre Huyghe's poster is a calling card to a forest of sorts, one that will materialise this Wednesday on the stage, in the stalls and the circles of the Sydney Opera House.

If 70s glam rock iconography and a harsh sarcasm (i.e. anti-Hallmark, anti-pop symbols, anti-Damian Hurst) bites yer apple, then perhaps Vanila Netto's exhibition of video works, wall based paintings and photography is worth a taste.

As a young thing, Brazillian Miss Vanila fell in dirty love with the band KISS, a precise and ‘impactual' moment she vividly recalls.
