Possibly the world’s most famous book jacket designer, Chip Kidd sounds like a jock but draws like a genius. The man is not only associate art director at Alfred A. Knopf , but editor-at-large for Pantheon and author of CHEESE MONKEYS, which details graphic design education with a comic touch.
Chip’s latest: CHIP KIDD: BOOK ONE WORK: 1986 – 2006 is presented as fit for a coffee table and contains a detailed synopsis of Kidd’s design process, with a little help from talented friends like Haruki Murakami and Chris Ware.
Covering a lot of Kidd’s lesser-known work, such as the JURASSIC PARK dinosaur (for which he was short changed), and his creations for some amazing publications that we are yet to see on our shores, the book not only gives an insight into the publishing process, but the intricate relationship between the content of a book and the design of its cover.
Format: Book
Motivation: Pimp your coffee table
