Western wear! This book was published about six months ago, so it’s not totally new, but I only just discovered it. It’s a definitive guide to all the greats of Western wear, designing for Hollywood and the music greats with as much fringing, embroidery and studs and rhinestones as your heart could desire. I love it. There are great photos of fabulous outfits and characters, and, if you get really into it, follow up with the story of Western wear’s greatest hero, NUDIE THE RODEO TAILOR. He started as a costumier to showgirls in the '30s with his eponymous store ‘Nudie for the Ladies’. He eventually took his art all the way, dressing Elvis, ZZ Top, Jimi Hendrix and creating silver dollar encrusted Pontiacs with long horns and tooled leather interiors. Campbell Parade ain’t seen nothing like it.
