For me, it started in the winter of 2006 when I stumbled upon KBD Records - a blog dedicated to sharing rare punk records, lyrics and the stories behind them. Before then, all I knew about punk was that I liked it. I only owned the usual boring stuff like Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Clash and The Voidoids. But soon enough, KBD gave me all the early GG Allin, Poison Idea, Victims and Chronic Sick I could handle. I had every punk/hardcore record I needed to turn me into my mother's worst nightmare.
For Peter and Martin it started in the mid 1970s, when punk was exploding all over the world. From Sweden, they both collected all of the best punk, powerpop and hardcore vinyl and cassettes they could. Now they upload all of it, day by day, onto their blog for us to download. Free.
While KBD totally support the notion of not paying for punk records, sometimes it's nice to donate when you find your treasure, especially when the effort has been made to include a picture of the record/sleeve art plus a load of background information on the band. Don't be scared to lurk the comments either, there's minimal keyboard fighting and heaps of extra information. Band members are also known to drop by and share a story from time to time - they're pretty wholesome, for a bunch of gobbing punks.

TwoThousand is a subcultural guide to Sydney, published daily and fired by email weekly. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of Sydney writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity. Without editorial independence TwoThousand has nothing. All editorial you read is featured because it's worth it - not because it's paid for.
