This tale first popped up in THE BUS DRIVER WHO WANTED TO BE GOD & OTHER STORIES a few years back. From there, it was plucked from the crowd, turned into an award winning film and republished as a novella.
The gist of it is this: our hero, Mordy, wakes up two days after killing himself in a strange afterlife inhabited only by suicides. It's just like regular life except everyone bears the marks of their death - unless they're 'Juliets' (overdoses) - and nothing really seems to matter. When Mordy finds out that the girl he loved on Earth has also offed herself, he sets out to find her, and so the adventure begins.
It might sound a tad tasteless, but this fable has a beautiful, knowing humour to it, as well as a sort of wistful hope. Keret has a gift for surprising turns of phrase and a tremendous imagination, which when combined with his sarcastic wit results in a book like no other.
