The cover of PCA issue 2 is eye-catching to say the least. Some may be turned off by it and some may be turned on, though both reactions would be way off the mark. The image, part of the series 14 Months by Glasgow based artist Paul Knight, encapsulates the magazine's statement of intent perfectly. That is, a behind the scenes look into the process of creating, in all its forms. Seeing an image like that out of context, it's difficult to gauge its intended meaning.
Of course, subjectivity is a part of what makes art interesting, but to read what Knight has to say about the (highly considered) process of creating these photos not only changes the way the image works, it makes you think about all the other stories you're only getting half of. The ground covered is considerable, including a conversation between fashion designers Fiona Lau and Helene Balle and a warm tribute to the inner workings and failings of the now defunct Flesh Vs. Venom by bassist Tim Hillier. Each article has a life of its own, celebrating the very creative process it sets out to document.

TwoThousand is a subcultural guide to Sydney, published daily and fired by email weekly. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of Sydney writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity. Without editorial independence TwoThousand has nothing. All editorial you read is featured because it's worth it - not because it's paid for.
