If you haven’t started accruing a collection of Die Gestalten Verlag for your design library, it’s time to start. More than just publishers, Die Gestalten are curators for the design world’s most inspiring visual artists, be they icons or mavericks.
While making a clear reference to nineteenth century Romanticism, ROMANTIK defines a current version of the term through its selections and presentation of outstanding examples of contemporary illustration, photography and graphic design. The book features designers such as Deanna Cheuk, Jeff Soto and Australian design collective, Rinzen. They play with elements that hearken back to an era way before desktop publishing: flowers, butterflies, hearts, candles, sunsets and ornaments. Romance is not dead, it’s been reborn in fashion, design and art. And it’s some kind of beautiful hybrid super species that is perhaps more Lacroix than Delacroix.
