In an increasingly crowded blogosphere, it's often hard to separate the true gems from the riff-raff. But luckily for you, we have. Meet the first of our online gems: ROSEQUARTZ, a blog by two guys who like to write about "excellent new music." Sounds simple enough, and it is. One Australian, one pseudo-Brit, these guys bring us the best and latest tracks from a wide variety of often underground and obscure indie acts from around the globe. (After all, says Richard, "there really is an amazing amount of music out there and it seems ridiculous for people to miss out on it!")
Updated almost daily, their interviews and reviews - complete with readily-downloadable mp3s - are punchy little pieces of cheeky wit, touching observation, nonsensical beauty and a whole dose of humanity. While undeniably intelligent, rosequartz manages to stay on the right side of pretension, perhaps because - unlike many others in their genre - they really don't take themselves all that seriously. (Richard's frenetic rants and Max's self-deprecating humour undoubtedly lend a hand here, and almost assure you will be just as charmed by the writers as the music itself).
Oh, and don't let all the 'wassup's and extra 'z's fool you either: these are two of the whitest boys around.
