Tattoo Icons - Victionary 3
Despite what some may think, tattoos aren’t limited to backpackers on the Gold Coast. Here at TwoThousand we have an unashamed fascination with them both as fashion and as art.
Back in issue 049 we featured Thomas Jeppe’s HOME MADE TATTOOS RULE, which celebrated the spontaneity of self-inking and is a hardcore ode to the artform. TATTOO ICONS – VICTIONARY 3 on the other hand, is more of a collaboration; moving away from traditional tattoo iconography and letting some of the world’s best from the fields of illustration, fashion, product, photography and graphic design experiment with the medium.
As they reproduce and photograph fake tattoo stickers on human and animal bodies, TATTOO ICONS may be more playful than HOME MADE TATTOOS RULE but they both share the belief that, ultimately, it is the attitude of the individual that gives each piece its strength. It also comes with some transfers for you to play around with.
