The fourth offering from the (ex-Brisbane) Melbourne-based editors of THE LIFTED BROW is indeed a hefty one, though its paperback cover may be flimsy.

Content-wise, BROW is pretty special. There are pithy and/or entertaining short works of fiction from Sarah Manguso, Anna Krien, Adam Levin, Kevin Moffett, Chris Bachelder and other bright sparks (indeed, too many to mention here. Well, okay, Neil Gaiman).

There are illustrated pieces that are better than a trip to the museum, including a new instalment in the ‘Women of Mystery' series by Daniel Handler and Lisa Brown. There are musical offerings from Pikelet, Sly Hats and Aleks and the Ramps, among others. And all of it is based on fake titles on a fake bookshelf that someone (Ronnie) fake-assembled with real (fake) instructions from IKEA.

There are eight hours of high-grade entertainment betwixt TLB's compact disc-lined covers. And that's enough to take you all the way to Brisbane on a bus.
