Reading THE SLYNX, by Russo-royalty (of the literary kind) Tatyana Tolstaya, is like gulping down a magic mushroom milkshake spiked with Moscow-grade vodka, puking it up again and trying to read a "plot" from the leftovers. It's weird. It's horrid. It's wildly inventive. It will make you doubt humanity a little. It's frankly, quite fantastic.

The book is set 200 years after the ‘Blast', a nuclear holocaust resulting in a mutated breed of humans with cockscombs bursting from their eyeballs, gills and extra fingers. It seems the apocalypse hasn't changed much; there's the rich and the poor, the censors and the censored, the ones getting laid and the ones watching on. Basically, it's now, plus some wacky genes and wild words. Make like the Slynx, and hop to your local bookshop or Amazon and grab it now.
