There are a lot of things up with the world today, largely a result of the human race giving the finger to common sense and moral sensibilities. Deforestation, the polar ice caps, the list goes on. So when you have two people setting up a monthly newsletter out of their own pocket to showcase Australia’s creative talent, you once again get a glimpse of the donut and not just the hole. Welcome to [weAREtheIMAGEmakers].
Now in their tenth online issue, WATIM has already featured the likes of Eamo, Jeremyville and Elli Ioannou, with this month’s edition spot-lighting the mad talents of skate photographer Tristan Still and Fani One. On top of interviews and images, there’s also a gallery section, giving some lesser-known kids the chance to shine.
Next month WATIM moves from cyberspace to the gallery space, armed with 12 artists, 12 pieces of work on 12x12 canvas for the artistically titled 12x12 exhibition. Get down to the aMBUSH in Waterloo from 20 July to check out the likes of Yok, Ben Frost and Dyzla. Or get involved with WATIM yourself, submissions for issue 11 are open now, check it here.
