Perched on the corner of Marlborough and Cleveland Street in Surry Hills is Bird Emporium. The nesty spot is home to ‘Bird', an environmentally sound moniker for beautiful textiles that are created by designer Rachel Bending. What makes this bird so special is its painstakingly designed fabrics from Byron Bay, manufactured using solar power and hand-painted with water-based dyes.

Yippys will go bananas for the range of cushions, lampshades and tableware, soaps and buttons. The umbrellas and sausage dog ‘draught excluders' are sweet too, but made-to-order panel curtain kits are far sweeter. Even David McTaggart couldn't poo poo this one.
