Hidden on Broadway near Glebe Point Road between a dodgy-looking op shop and an even dodgier looking brothel, lies a dark dingy and dirty little second-hand clothing store called Broadway Betty.
OK, so not the best sales pitch, we know, but the questionable location and lack of expensive shop fittings adds much to the store's charm.
Firstly, everything's cash only, which means bargains galore and haggling a-plenty. Secondly, no one really knows it's there, or if they do, they can't be bothered going, so you can often find things that have already been plundered from vintage stores in the tres trendy areas of Surry Hills, Darlo and Bondi or Newtown.
Thirdly, it's right by Broadway Shopping Centre and Glebe Markets, which means your Saturday morning can go something like this.
1. Free Parking at Broadway for two hours.
2. Gozleme for breakfast at the markets and maybe score some second-hand books.
3. Take a squiz at Betty's finest and pick up an awesome new T-shirt/dress/skirt/bag.
4. Dash to Bi-Lo for toothpaste and toilet paper.
Too easy.
