Melbourne's style is an acquired taste. Kind of like roasted eggplant and fetta on rye. Not the taste most Aussies are used to, unless they're well travelled and open to new ideas, but once you try it, it's hard to go back to plain old meat and three veg.
Don't get me wrong, we love fashion in Sydney. But that's the thing. It's fashion we love. We go nuts over ‘60s tunics and tights, while our friends down south are playing with sack dresses, turtlenecks and bizarre layers of linen and silk.
Lisa Gorman's eponymous label is quintessentially "Melbourne". She doesn't get caught up in the frivolities of fashion. Instead, she makes beautifully simple pieces from soft, luxurious fabrics that gently purr "buy me, I'm beautiful" in your ear, instead of screaming "LOOK AT ME I'M SO HOT RIGHT NOW".
As of right now, we can finally see the whole range at Gorman's new Sydney flagship store on Oxford Street.
