Van Hua had a vision in 2003 to create a retail outlet specialising in innovative and daring men's fashion. His Picket Fence Store was born of a
need to educate Sydney men about international standards of style. After a successful start, the store built a name for itself incorporating brands such as manvious, Erica America, material boy, pop issue and Michael. Sadly however, three years on it looks like Picket Fence must open it's well oiled gates for the last time as it prepares for it's impending closing down sale
In approximately four weeks, one off garments and exclusive designs will be slashed to Crazy Ron's Mobile Phone-style prices as Van and his staff say goodbye to Darlinghurst. Blame the rise in petrol prices, inflated mortgages, or maybe the exodus of new families to the Sunshine Coast.
Luckily, we can rest assured that the sun hasn't quite gone down on Darlinghurst. Sydney may need a little time to accept its fashionability.
But when that time arrives, Van assures us that Picket Fence will once again swing open its gates to the sound of the cash register.
