A 'PEOPLE LIKE US' TEE, JUST DROP BY THEIR BOOTH AT THE MARKET AND SIGN THE TWOTHOUSAND LIST
A T-shirt says 1000 words. Well, maybe not 1000. You'd need to have a pretty big ponch for that. But artfully done, tees can say a lot about their wearer. Take ‘Vote for Pedro' (late majority/laggards) ‘I heart New York' (post 9/11 national pride, pre 9/11 cheese ball) or ‘Beer Singh' (just back from trip to Bangkok, also bought fisherman pants and 50 pirate DVDs, half of which don't work).
This Saturday, a bunch of tees with a lot to show off about are getting together for one day in Newtown. Shirty07 mixes design enthusiasts, with printed cloth in a showcase of work from artists such as 2x4tshirts, People Like Us and Imok. Prices are capped at $69, which isn't Bangkok low but is still a steal for designs like these.
The Shirty crew's mantra is that: "while a T-shirt slogan or design might not change the world, it can sow the seed of thought". We agree. Fingers crossed that 'the seed' is more poignant than ‘Hot Stuff'.
