Life as an independent film-maker ain't easy. For one, you need talent. Lots of it, so much talent that you can write a screenplay, convince people to 'invest' the budget with almost no chance of return, find locations, build sets, collate a crew, cast actors, put up with the said actors, make out with said actors, break up with said actors, run away and hide from crew when you can't/don't pay them - we haven't even touched on production.

After you've made the darn thing you also need to screen it. This is a right task because now you are poor. So poor, that you're eating straight baked beans smothered in 30c cheese, drinking goon and generally scaring your flatmates.

Improving the health and wellbeing of young film-makers everywhere, Kino Sydney provides the platform for directors to screen their works for free. They also provide a free (homemade) feed and the delights of an open bar. Each film runs for less than 10 minutes to satiate those with YouTube attention spans. This month's line up is still under wraps but there will be a burlesque dancer to kick off the show and we are down with that.
