You are underground, right next to Oxford Street, sitting by a sunken water garden and surrounded by the heritage brick columns. You are not at the Oxford Art Factory. The Paddington Reservoir Garden is something quite special in our urban experience. It's special because it's not often that a feeling of privilege comes from being beneath the crowd, and downwards is not a direction that motivates all architects.

However, the design by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects and JMD Design Landscape Architects is a clever and considered blend of historical excavation and modern materials, which will no doubt host amazing events and many lazy afternoons in its multiple unique spaces. It's also healthier than the Oxford Art Factory. I didn't even sweat or vomit. Not once.
