STRAY is about random adventure and escape. STRAY is about pretending that Sydney is Ferris Bueller's Day Off and that fun and money aren't mutually exclusive. STRAY is cheap hijinx, cheap dates and the outings you could be planning while you're actually watching Video Hits on a weekend at 11am.
So here's the situation. You're a cool young thing, you've been out on the town cruisin' the strip with your own two feet, maybe you found someone to cruise and strip with, maybe you didn't, but it's time to go home and you need a cab 'cause you're drunk (which is still cool no matter what the government tells you).
Piera Gelardi and Philippe von Borries have excellent names. They are also very clever, and are the two key people behind one of New York's most forward thinking online fashion publications, REFINERY29.
Followed by millions every month, REFINERY29 caters to an international fashion audience through a range of online avenues, including designer shops, interactive trend reporting and style guides.
American auteur John Waters' early films involved overweight drag queens eating fresh dog poop, and singing anuses. His recent works include Tony Award winning Broadway musicals and Hollywood A-list stars. In John's one-man show, This Filthy World, he explains his unbelievable career trajectory in his inimitable, frank, sardonic, style.
Not knowing stuff is underrated. Not knowing stuff means I'm always discovering stuff. The list of things I don't know about is long so I'm always pleasantly fascinated when I come across things like cars, chemicals, the financial world and times-tables. This city is bubbling with things I don't know about, and lovely people that want to share them.
A wise man once said retail is for suckers. We're inclined to agree. Perusing the curbside collections, or curb surfing, is without question the best source for indoor furniture, outdoor furniture, cool bikes and Franklin Mint crap. Aside from the free stuff, there's a thrill in the chase and a pride in showing off your best scores.
Been to Crown Street lately? You can barely walk a mile without running into another posh supermarket. They pile the fruit on old barrels all wholesome-like, then slap it with a rude price tag. The loose dirt on the potatoes and the leaf still attached to the apple are the reassuring stamp of authenticity, a placebo for city shoppers.
So Laneway is back and it's in a park. Confusing? Perhaps, but only momentarily. Once you fight through the lush greenery and stop looking for skyscrapers you'll notice that it's not really the lanes that make Laneway at all! It's the bands of course (I'm going to put it out there and say that this is the best line up to date) but it's also all the wonderful extras.
