The films at Tropfest were good, but not that good right? I mean if you had entered, dude, it would have been amazing. So why not put your money where your mouth is? Start small and do it right now – that’s the philosophy behind Kino, a new monthly film night that aims to create an underground platform for budding film-makers around the city.
Launched at the closing night of the Canadian Film Festival in ’06, Kino is basically an open mic night for film-makers. Follow some basic criteria, send your film in then sit back and see what the audience has to say. Don’t have a budget? Who does. The Kino motto is "do well with nothing; do even better with a little, and do it right now!.
Organisers promise that the result will be an evening of unpredictable cinema that showcases fresh ideas and unforeseen moments. So what are you waiting for?
