Chain-rings. Stubs. Cranks. Seat posts. Stems. These words mean sweet jack-all to me. But if you're a fixed-gear rider, the quality of your rings, stubs, cranks and stems could be the difference between life and death. Call me crazy, but I'd say you're a sucker for the latter if your preferred bike is one with no breaks. "Slow down! You crazy!" That's me shouting at you, fixie face, next time you shoot by in a blur of wind and plaid and knock all the oranges out of my arms.
Aspiring filmmakers Colin and Colby scoured the West Coast of Cali for track bike and fixie riders, forming a group they called, Macaframa. They filmed some stunning high def footage of the Macaframa crew riding throughout streets and locations in San Fran and made it into a film that "transcends the bullshit of a bike being an accessory". After a last-minute teaser screening at last year's Bicycle Film Festival, Macaframa gained a cult following. Its first official screening was last March at Lodown Gallery in West Berlin, followed by viewings in carparks and cinemas across the States, around the world and now... in the comfort of your own lounge room.
No suckers or crazies, just neat riding and amazing cinematography.
