WATCH is TwoThousand's guide to movies in Sydney. While we focus on art-house and independent releases, we never shun our secret pop-culture pleasures. WATCH also has its fingers on the pulse of film-festivals and specially programmed events and we give tickets away every week. We have also been known to organise special preview screenings, which we always chicken out of introducing on the microphone before the previews start playing.
Hungry Beast
Remember how we told you that Andrew Denton's company, Zapruder's Other Films, was looking for young folk to help them create a mysterious new series? Well, looks like they found some good sorts because it's finally happening. We're still not entirely sure what 'it' is, but all reports point to awesome.
Never Mind The Buzzcocks
This is British comedy that parades as a game show. However, NEVER MIND THE BUZZCOCKS is more of a talk show, where the panellists' main objectives are humiliation and props. You could say it's the rich-man's SPICKS 'N' SPECKS. It's hosted by the hilariously quick-witted Simon Amstel, a man so funny that he once gave a guest a hernia.
True Blood
You gagged for BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (the movie), you gagged harder for BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (the series), did some small-time sexy chokes for ANGEL and various other Joss Whedon spin-offs, you vote vampires over zombies in all apocalypse fantasies, you even, maybe, just maybe, read those stupid TWILIGHT books and saw the movie and whatever .
SBS, just watch it OK
Forget for a second that you could probably watch both these shows online right now.
There is no better way to embrace the inevitability of middle-aged conservatism than having a regular television-viewing schedule. And what better way to settle into a routine than tuning in to the new series' of THE BOOSH and SOUTHPARK?
An added bonus is that you'll never feel left out of the water-cooler chat at your funky, creative, hard working yet relaxed office - because you'll have seen the latest episode too.
