If you live in Melbourne and don't know about FAT there is very little we can do to help you. It's the store (now stores) that cemented the city's reputation as the hipster capital of Australia. They've broken more new labels than Jeff Fenech has broken noses. And what's best is that even after many years in business they still have their edge and are awesomely enthusiastic about what they do.
Third Drawer Down
Third Drawer Down are known and loved around the world for their art-meets-design projects, all of which started with a simple rethink of the teatowel. Now they have collaborated with artists from David Shrigley to Chicks on Speed. They make wonderful things for Tate Modern and galleries of hip repute around the world.
Lover
Lover® make sublimely beautiful clothing... it's true. But looking through their website gives the impression that there's more to the label than pretty garments. It seems like a kind of tasteful melting pot of people, ideas and fashionable outputs.
